ADMISSION: POLICY, 
ELIGIBILITY, AND PROCEDURE 


Policy:
IMCS admits students twice a year for its BCS and BBA programs in the months of December and July to start classes from January and August each year. It follows a transparent policy of open merit for admissions. There is no quota and no reserved seats for any category of students. Criteria for admission, however, comprise the following. 

Ø Past academic record.

Ø Performance in the entry test and interview.

Ø Personality and aptitude.

Ø Proficiency in spoken and written English.

Ø Urge to acquire higher education through hard work. 

Eligibility:

BBA Program: Admission will be open to those students who have passed Intermediate Examination (arts, science, or commerce group) from any Pakistani University, with at least 45% aggregate marks. 

BCS Program: Admission will be open to those students who have passed Intermediate Examination (pre-engineering), or with Mathematics as compulsory subject with two optional subjects from Economics, Statistics, and Computer Science, from any Pakistani University, with a minimum of 45% aggregate marks. 

Equivalence Certificates and Conversion of Grades into Marks: Candidates having obtained qualification from foreign institutions shall provide equivalence certificates and conversion of grades into marks from the competent authority in Pakistan.

Provisional Admission: Students waiting for the result of Intermediate Examination may also apply for admission provided that they had scored a minimum of 45% marks in the First Year Examination, and expect to improve or at least maintain this percentage. However, their admission will be provisional, subject to their passing the Intermediate Examination with at least 45% marks in aggregate. They will be required to submit their final year marks sheet within a reasonable time after the announcement of the result, failing which their admission will be cancelled.



Procedure: 
Admission Material: Admission material consisting of prospectus, application form, admit card, and sample test paper will be provided against payment of Rs.350/-. It can be obtained through mail by sending a payment order for Rs.350/- favoring Institute of Management and Computer Sciences. 

Test and Interview (both for BBA and BCS): There will be a written test of one and one-half hour duration in English, Mathematics, General Science and General Knowledge and Current Affairs. The test would carry 80 marks. Besides, each candidate will have to undergo a personal interview carrying 20 marks. A candidate shall have to obtain minimum 50% marks to be eligible for admission.

Documents required with the Application Form: Candidates seeking admission to BBA / BCS Programs will be required to submit their application forms with the following documents:

Ø Attested photocopy of National Identity Card, or Form B if a student is of less than 18 years of age.
Ø Original marks HSSC examinations (both years) with a photo copy of each. Original will be returned after verification.
Ø Two recent passport size photographs.

Fee Structure – Tuition Fee:

BCS is a 3–year degree program, spread over 6 semesters of 6 months each. Each of the first 5 semesters caters for 5 subjects, while the last semester covers 6 subjects. Tuition fee for each subject is Rs.850/- per month. Thus, per semester fee for the first 5 semesters is Rs. 25,500/=, while for the last semester it is Rs. 30,600/= 

BBA is a 2–year degree program, spread over 4 semesters of 6 months each. Each of the first two semesters caters for 7 subjects, while the third and the fourth semesters cater for 6 subjects each. Tuition fee per subject per month is Rs. 650/- i. e Rs. 3,900/- per subject for the full semester. This aggregates Rs. 27,300/- each for the first and the second semester, and Rs. 23,400/- each for the last two semesters.

All fees are payable in advance at the commencement of the semester, and are open to constant review and revision, as and when deemed necessary. However, students once admitted shall be entitled / liable to pay such fees for subsequent semesters as prescribed for those semesters at the time of their admission. Fees once paid shall neither be refunded, nor transferred to any other course, nor otherwise appropriated. Except as herein otherwise provided for.

Fee Waiver and Scholarships:

IMCS encourages talented and needy students by offering them the following incentives.

Scholarships:

First Semester:

Special Waiver

Up to 50% concession in tuition fee may also be considered at the discretion of the management on low-income-cum-merit consideration, on case-to-case basis, provided that such student avails of no brother-sister concession. Repeaters or students against whom disciplinary action is taken for misconduct or use of unfair means shall not be considered for this concession. 

Brothers -- Sisters Concession 

Up to 50% concession in tuition fee may be granted to a student whose brother or sister is also concurrently studying at the Institute. Such concession shall be admissible to only one person at a time, provided that special waiver facility is not availed of by him / 
her or by his/her other brother or sister under low-income concession scheme. Repeaters and brothers and sisters of repeaters shall not be eligible for this concession.

Review of Concessions

Any of the aforesaid concessions shall not be on permanent basis. Each case shall be under constant watch and review, and shall be allowed to continue on the basis of merit alone. Each case shall be reviewed at the beginning of the semester in the light of the performance of the candidate in the previous semester. Grant of any concession shall be solely at the discretion of the management, and under no circumstances shall be claimed as a right by any student.
